On Saturday we had a very Happy Birthday party here. Despite my best efforts to mess up Matthew’s party, it was a great success with his requested dinosaur cake and pizza from the pizza man.
I failed to invite my family (our only semi-local family) until the last minute. My sister actually asked mom if she wasn’t invited because she didn’t get an invite. Nope, I just didn’t send them. So I decided to make a Facebook invite to cover up my lack of invite for the party. I spelled Matthew’s name wrong in the invite. My sister will never let me live down the invite to “Marthew’s Birthday Party”. oops! Lesson learned … do not type the Facebook invite on your iPhone.
Matthew has told me for months he wanted a dinosaur birthday party. Did I prepare? Nope. I did manage to get a Dinosaur Cake Pan and dessert plates off Amazon the middle of last week and was saved by Prime shipping. By the way, Walmart has NO dinosaur birthday supplies. Target had some but they were on an end cap and I almost missed them. So once again, I was saved even though I did not plan well!
Brian took over cake decorating. I love pretending I can decorate cakes and will stay up until 1am with my pretend skills. Brian wasn’t having it and created this cake. I did make the teeth while he iced it so I will take credit for that part!
Matthew was very excited to find his dinosaur cake the morning of his birthday but pointed out that a T-Rex does not have spikes on his skin like Brian put on his leg. Apparently, we are raising a dinosaur cake critic! Who knew?!
Matthew had two big presents … his Imaginex Castle. He has wanted this castle since Christmas when he got the dragon that goes with it …
and his twin bed. He LOVES his big bed. He did asked me if he got a bigger bed when he turned five though. LOL
Oh and he is now a big boy, he gave all of his pacis to Aunt Amy. Aunt Amy is having a baby boy in December so I suggested that maybe she could use his pacis for the baby since his now a big four year old. I was sure this idea wouldn’t fly but he liked it and gave baby a blanket too. He hasn’t asked for a paci since we gave them away so we hoping for continued success!!
Happy FOURTH birthday to my little man! You will always be my baby but you are growing so big. Hopefully, I can be more organized for your fifth birthday! Can you tell me now what theme you want so I can start planning now?

I am always a last minute party planner too and honestly prefer just taking the kids somewhere super fun for the day over throwing a party, haha. The cake turned out awesome, even if it shouldn’t have spikes. (I would not have known either way!) It looks like a fabulous birthday. Happy birthday, Matthew!
