I participated in a campaign on behalf of Dad Central Consulting for AVEENO. I received product samples and a promotional item as a thank you for participating. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Have you ever noticed those grizzled old guys with the leathery faces? Those guys have put in a lifetime of hard work and have earned every line on their faces. When I was in the army, the Sergeant Majors and Platoon Sergeants would often have these features. The problem? These guys were in their mid-30’s and early 40’s! Sure, they’ve earned every line, but who wants to look 20-30 years older than you actually are?
For the past several years, I haven’t worried too much about taking care of my face. No special soaps, whatever shave gel is on sale, and I couldn’t tell you the last time I used aftershave. Let’s be honest, I’m married with three kids and I’m a work-at-home dad. Who am I trying to impress? I have, however, started to notice the toll that my face takes just in doing the stuff that men do. Just think about it. This summer, I’ll be grilling, working over campfires, and spending hours in the hot sun mowing, weeding, mulching, etc. After all of that, my face is just a mess! My prior regimen just leaves my face feeling dry and rough.
Since I have started using men’s skin care products from Aveeno, though, I can feel that my face is healthier. I have fewer razor bumps, no nicks, and my face just feels smoother. I particularly like the face wash. It has just enough of those scrubbing beads to exfoliate, but not so much as to irritate the skin. It’s funny. I remember using the Aveeno oatmeal bath as a kid to soothe the itching from chicken pox, poison ivy, etc. Who would have thought that, years later, I would be using the same Active Naturals oat ingredient to cleanse, moisturize, and soothe my face from the daily torture of just being a guy?
How do you take care of your face? Do you have a particular regimen that you use? Leave us a comment and let us know.
