When our family became a family of three … then four … then surprise, a family of five our thoughts around travel changed. Sure Brian and I can travel four hours both ways in the car for a quick day trip but the kids aren’t happy campers when we ask them to do the same. We have learned that our travel time limit with the kids being happy is two hours. Thankfully there is a lot do within two hours of where we live! Virginia is full of great places to visit in nature such as the Natural Bridge and even historical places such as Monticello (the home of Thomas Jefferson).
When we happen travel for vacation, we take the day trip approach to our time away from home too. We look for places we can travel to that are near where we are staying but allow for enough to enjoy the location and not just dread the car ride there and back! Seeing that even when we travel we are on a budget I look for deals, special offers, and coupons I can use on our day trips. You can look for offers such as ones to Save 20% on your tickets to the London Dungeon! My favorite coupons are ones that apply to whole family and not just one person.
