The other night we made some wreath ornaments with the kids after dinner. I needed to take an ornament to swap at a meeting and I was brain-dead on ideas until I saw that someone at work had made these as a little fundraiser. I thought they will be a great family night activity and the kids really loved working on these!
What is needed?
- Shower curtain rings (cheap ones … I found a 12 pack at Walmart for $1.07!)
- yarn in various colors
- scissors
- ribbon for bows (optional)
- other embellishments (bells, holiday decorations, etc.)
The ones of these I saw in person were glued together but then I found this tutorial on making wreath ornaments without glue. So we used this method where you wrap the yarn over where you start and the just tie it off at the end. For the tie, I just used scrap pieces. You can keep wrapping around the circle to make thicker wreaths but the kids saw the end as a good stopping point.
These are the three kids made … OK, Brian made Matthew’s but Matthew sat there encouraging him to wrap faster as he yelled at him! haha

Oh how cute! I love that you can use shower curtain rings for it!
