What Simply Changes we are planning for the year ahead? Here are mine …
Organize … not my life but my closets here at the house. I already went through my closet minus the hanging clothes and what a HUGE difference that made for me! Now I can get to the laundry baskets in there. My jewelry has a place to be. I have only the sweaters that fit me out. Oh and my shoes … they all have a home. I did a hard core clean out my shoes. That is so hard to do! I loved some of those shoes but I finally admit they saw their better day and I had long ago gotten my money’s worth out of them! Now I have a bag of shoes and sweaters to go to the consignment shop next winter. (I totally should have done this sooner but at least I finally did it!) Next up … the kids’ closets. My girls share a room and therefore a closet. It has a horrible closet system in the previous owner put in. I might have to give in and get a new one that works for two girls sharing a closet. Little dude doesn’t really have any hanging clothes yet his closet is stuffed. It is stuffed with luggage, little girl dresses that are the between size between my girls, diapers (stock piled), and boxes of clothes the next size up that I add to when I find a bargain. I can’t remember the last time I got to that box though.
My kids will have organized closets this year. Since I am focusing on organizing our closets … my Simply Budgeted series will start with the topic of being organized. Why? Being organized saves so much money because you know what you have and what you need. If you don’t know what you have, then you can easily end up with three pairs of black shoes and only ever wear one. Yes, you know what I am talking about!;)
As for what I will organize after I get done with the closets, I really have no idea. I used to be an obsessive organizer. Obsessive. I haven’t gone to complete out of control but I do tend to throw something in the closet and shut the door before company comes over instead of giving it a home. Maybe this year I can find a way to organize the toys in our living room … I keep trying. I think I am try number 7 now. But back to the closets … they will happen first so I keep my sanity when I get clothes for the morning or even just need another pack of diapers!
So take a moment and decide what you will do this year to make a simple change in your life. It is being organized, stay tuned because some great monthly posts are headed your way!
