Friday Favorites is another almost weekly feature here at Simply Living on a Budget. The whole point of this feature is to share some of my favorite finds. Anything is game. Food. Cleaning supplies. Kid stuff. Garden favorites. Recipes. Anything that I really like and want to randomly post about. Everything in Friday Favorites is something that I use and bought on my own.
1 1/8 cups milk
3 tablespoons oil
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1 large apple — peeled, diced
Place the ingredients in the bread pan in the order recommended by your
machine’s manufacturer. Process on the appropriate cycle.
Add apples at beginning of second knead cycle. Apples add moisture to the
dough, so a little flour may have to be added to adjust the consistency.
This recipe yields a 1 1/2 pound loaf.
My thoughts …
The recipe is good! I wonder if it would of worked if I didn’t force the apples to mix in the dough though. I kept taking the dough out stretching to combine some apples stuck the sides and then dropping back in to keep kneading. My hands were a mess. I want to say I added in at least two cups of flour at this point too! I was worried I over handled it and killed the yeast. It turned out beautiful though.
The taste … there is a HINT of apple and cinnamon in the bread. I don’t know that I would call it apple pie bread. Candles smell more like apple pie than this tastes like apple pie in my opinion. At the same time, I would make it again. My kids LOVED this bread.

Do you think if you didn't take out the dough and work in the apples, it wouldn't have been what you ended up with? I was intrigued and hopeful… lol I may try this over the weekend and see what happens. Bread machine recipes are an adventure 🙂
