Are you a bottle of the barrel … errr … bottle, jar, container, tube … whatever, scraper?
I am. I am sure one day my kids will find it embarrassing but they will get over it. I bet that one day I will walk into their house and find them doing the same thing! Why do I say that? I say that because I fully blame my mom for my bottom of the barrel scrapping habits.
Now I don’t go as far as her. Sorry mom to call you out! I don’t cut the end off the tube of toothpaste to get the rest of the toothpaste out of the tube. I admit I probably don’t do this because I don’t use a tube and use a stand up thingy of toothpaste.
I do turn the dishwasher detergent, the fabric softener, the liquid washer soap, the shampoo bottles all upside down to get the last little bit out.
So why I am writing this? My face wash was “all gone” a few weeks ago. It has a little pump on it so I just give it one pump and I am good. Well I looked through the clear bottle and saw a bunch of face wash soap still in the bottom. So I took the pump off and started just letting it drip into my hand. I got several more weeks of soap out of the supposedly “empty” bottle.
In the crazy way my mind works, I started thinking about how much people waste in products when they don’t flip them upside down or take the pump cap off or be crazy like my mom and cut the end of the tube off. (Oh, she does that to lotion tubes too!)
My question to you is are you a bottom of the barrel scraper? Do you have another trick for getting that last bit of a product out of its container? If you do, share by leaving a comment! I love reading your comments!

My husband is a barrel scraper to the extreme but we both turn the containers upside down. Luckily we do as many products in bulk as we can so a number are a matter of refilling the bottle.

Oh yes, I'm kind of obsessive about getting everything out of the bottle before I throw it away. I've even been known to turn the container upside-down and then cut the "top" off so I can reach in and get everything out! Hey–a penny saved….

Isn't everyone a bottom scraper? You mean some people just toss those bottles without turning them upside down? Right now in my kitchen is a dish detergent bottle upside down in a glass; bathroom has my face moisturizer (pump style) upside down in my makeup basket; shower has conditioner upside down on the ledge.

Heck yes! If it is shampoo, conditioner or body wash, I'll just add a wee bit of water in order to get it all out! I don't cut the toothpaste, but I squeeze the heck out of it!
