Today is the LAST day to apply for the Mamavation campaign. You can find out the details here on how to apply. Go check it out! Applying might be YOUR first step.
A few confessions are good for the soul, right? Well here goes one. So when I filled out my Mamavation application you had to enter your weight. I put the last weight I saw on the scale. I got the scale the next day and say a weight that was three pounds higher. WHAT?! How did that happen? It hadn’t been that long since I had gotten on the scale. That was last Tuesday.
Since a confession is good for the soul, a celebration should make the soul soar, right? Well, I like to think so and am going to go with that! I am excited to say that as of my weigh in yesterday, I was back to the weight I put in on my application. So in 6 days, I went down three pounds! THREE!!! I am going to give credit to my no soda drinking and my watching what I eat. You know, carrots and bananas DO make for great snacks!
Why am I sharing this?I have seen several tweets lately about how hard it is to lose weight. I want to show it isn’t hard and it is about making choices. I will do this even if I am not in the final five for Mamavation (even though I REALLY hope to be!)
How am I making it not hard? This is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE not a DIET or WEIGHT LOSS CAMPAIGN!!
My husband loves Alton Brown and his show Good Eats on The Food Network. My husband made me watch Alton’s recent show about his personal Lifestyle Change where he dropped 50 lbs! Yes, 50 lbs! Watching that show made me realize this is my Lifestyle Change. It isn’t a diet that I will stop when I get to where I want to be. It isn’t a weight loss campaign. It is about changing my habits.
I am going to write another post about Alton’s approach but I wanted to get this up today. His exact approach isn’t for me but I think we can all learn something from how he presented his Lifestyle Change.
Remember today is the last day to apply for the Mamavation campaign. It is also the last day to tweet up your support for me and show me comment love on my Mamavation posts (you can find them all here.)
Here is the tweet …
Hey @bookieboo! I want @simplybudgeted to be the next #Mamavation Mom. She has my support!
Thanks to everyone for their support so far. I see the tweets and really appreciate them! I also LOVE reading the motivating comments you are leaving me!
I leave you with the parting thought … are you in this for the mamavation campaign, a diet, a weight loss campaign, or a lifestyle change? I hope that gives you something to mentally chew on and think about. Leave me a comment and let me know your answer!

When you get in the habit of eating right & exersising it's easier. Especially when you have someone to do it with you.
