I recently received a copy of How to Roast a Lamb: New Greek Classic Cooking by Michael Psilakis. I figured my husband, our home chef, would like it but didn’t realize he would be so excited about this cookbook. My husband went on to tell me it is hard to find a good Greek cookbook. I never knew that. He then went on to quiz me about if I knew who Michael Psilakis was. My first answer was no. Then when I saw his picture in the book, I immediately recognized him from The Food Network shows.
A rising star in the food world, Michael Psilakis is co-owner of a growing empire of modern Mediterranean restaurants, and one of the most exciting young chefs in America today. In How to Roast a Lamb, the self-taught chef offers recipes from his restaurants and his home in this, his much-anticipated first cookbook.

Since my husband is our home chef, I asked him to give me his opinion on this book. I think he was drooling the whole time he read through it. His report back to me was the book has everything you can think of in it. He said some of recipes are really simple and some of them very complex (and list out kitchen equipment you need for them!) He has a couple in mind that he wants to try already so I am waiting for those yummy dishes to appear on our dinner planning menus! My husband also noted a few of the recipes were similar to ones that he has created on his own. He loves to see that his ideas are similar to those creations of top chefs! My husband’s final comment on the book was that stories were woven into the book and how that was always nice to see in cookbooks.
So if you are beginner cook or a home chef or maybe even a professional chef, this is a book for you. It will inspire your Greek taste buds to come out for some amazing dishes by Michael Psilakis! This book would make an excellent holiday present for any cook or chef in your life!
