For 34 days each year, our kids ages line up. I have learned that telling someone that you have a 3, 2, and 1 year old gets the same reaction as telling someone that you have a 6, 5, and 4 year old.
Taking pictures of three kids is near impossible but I am happy to share a few summer snapshots of them from our adventures of having a 6, 5, and 4 year old this summer. This first picture was at the little restaurant down in the Outer Banks, NC. Matthew had just turned 4 the weekend before our trip. They loved the beach this year and I love how happy they are in the sun and ocean breeze! Can you tell how much they were enjoying their snack that day?
Once again no perfect picture but these kids were excited to go on a dolphin ride in the Outer Banks, NC. (More on that experience to come too … gosh we need more time to catch up on summer posts!)
Fast forward to our 6, 5, and 4 experience to now and we are almost done with our adventures of this age line up. Here is a picture from earlier this week. They girls were headed off to their first day of school (more to come on that) and their little brother was super excited for them! See once again, no perfect picture when it comes to these three with Sophie looking at Brian, Grace bored with pictures, and little man, Matthew, some how smiling is a pretty average picture for us.
Grace will turn 7 tomorrow so we will have to change our answer and go with a 7, 5, and 4 year old answer. The shock from strangers is less when there is a gap in the kids’ ages. I will admit that we didn’t plan on having three kids that are 35 months apart in age but it happened. That is another story and blog post there about not assuming what brings a family three kids only 35 months apart in age.
For one more night, we will enjoy our 6, 5, and 4 year old. Then tomorrow morning with will celebrate and sing Happy Birthday off-key to our oldest when she turns 7 and gets a year closer to realizing just how crazy her family is!
Thanks for reading about our kids. We love sharing our experiences as a family of 5! Now you can just wait until next July when we announce we are a family with a 7, 6, and 5 year old … hopefully history be repeated and we survive then too!
