My kids are all three and under … well almost four and under so travel with the herd is often a challenge. That being said we have found some activities that are worth packing everyone up for an adventure out!
1. Places with animals. Any place is fine. The local alpaca farm. The country store with goats. The horses up the street we can see through the fence. You get the point. Animals are cool!
2. Places with food. Even little ones love to eat so we try to hit up local festivals. The apple festival in the fall is a family favorite. We are getting to the summer seasons so find a pick your own farm around you and hit up the strawberry patch. Talk about enjoyment on multiple levels!
3. A good ole parade. The Fourth of July parade in our small town is a hit. Small towns love parades so find a small town near you and check out their schedule. It would be a great family outing for sure!
4. A fun ride. For some reason the car ride never counts but if you can find a place with age appropriate rides, you are golden! The carousel is a hit with my little ones. I now know why my mom dreaded my love for roller coasters and need for a riding companion. Pay back is probably due my way one of these days.
5. Time together. It honestly doesn’t matter what you do, what you see, how much you pay, it is about time together. That is what the kids will remember. Maybe it is a trip to local park or a National Park across the country. At any rate, if you are all together, that is what really matters.
As a personal note, we love Willamsburg. It isn’t far from us and I can’t wait to take the kids there. The last time we were there it was my husband and I … well, and the dog. It will be much fun to see it through the kid’s eyes here before too long! The great part is that you can find all of this in the Williamsburg area!=)
