So how do you get dinner ready in a flash?
When asked for three tips to answer that question my first thought is have your husband make dinner. I do realize that not everyone has a home chef husband though so here are some tips that everyone can use, even that home chef husband, if you are lucky enough to have one of those like me.
1) Cook a large amount of meat that can be used in several dishes through out the week.
For example: We buy the bags of frozen chicken breasts (2.5 lbs) when they are half price at Harris Teeter. My husband will cook the whole bag of chicken. He might season it or marinade it. We can eat it like that one night, make chicken sandwiches, make chicken salad, cut it up over a bed of lettuce, etc. No boring left overs there!
2) Don’t forget the vegetables!
Frozen and canned veggies are just as good or even better sources of nutrition since they are frozen or canned at their peak. It is really easy to open a can or package and heat up some veggies in the microwave to help balance out your quickly made dinner!
3) Fall in love with one of your kitchen appliances.
Seriously. Fall in love with your indoor grill, your crockpot, your bread maker, you name it. Use that appliance to your advantage to getting dinner ready fast. Back in my single and our “just-the-two-of-us” days, we used the indoor grill A LOT to quickly cook meat. Now I love crockpot dinners. Besides the delicious food my crockpot makes for us, I love the warm and yummy smell that spreads throughout the house!
It doesn’t take make much to make a dinner in a flash and get the family back around your dining room table. Plus think of all of the money you are saving your budget by eating at home!
As I get back into gear here, I plan to start posting a few recipes here and there. They may be ones I have found and love or they may be ones that I pester my husband to write down from his dinner creations. At any rate, keep an eye out for them because I would love feedback.
So now it is your turn … how do you get dinner ready in a flash? Leave me a comment and let me know!

I am the admitted crockpot queen- especially in the winter! Everything and I mean everything gets saved (yes in Glad reusables) or in baggies and it becomes soups/stews/goulash or chili. I have went thru crockpot after crockpot I use it so much.
But really, whats better than homemade soup and warm bread when its snowing? 🙂
